Art in Prague (10) : Erik Snedsbøl / Emil Mirazchiev

Also at the Triennale, I was really moved by the "Turnon" series by Erik Snedsbøl.
Here is the set of 3 photographs from his series that were exhibited at the Triennale (borrowed from his website):

The Triennale was actually pretty rich in photographic works and videos.

Also interesting was the video installation "Wag the dog" by Emil Mirazchiev.
You found yourself in a cave, in front of a lot of tv screens with dogs barking at you...
Pretty impressive. Too bad that the small video on his website doesn't show how impressive that was.

Art in Prague (7) : Josef Vachal

Josef Vachal has been my most interesting find in the museums I visited in Czech Republic.
I even ended up buying a book with some of his work. He takes you into a very tormented world, which echoes somehow the mental turbulence of Edvard Munch.
Here are two of his works that were in the Prague National Gallery, I am very sorry for the very bad photographs. I can't believe I took such lazy shots.

This one, I borrowed from the wonderful czech site dedicated to Josef Vachal: http://www.vachal.cz/.
I saw the original in the Modern Art Museum of Hradec Kralove. A beautiful museum that I very highly recommend.
Josef Vachal - Invokers of the devil

The original is of course MUCH more impressive. The whole frame is engraved and it's real hit in the stomach.
Go and visit the afore mentionned site, it's really complete and has got plenty photographs of his work.

Art in Prague (6) : Josef Čapek

Inventor of the word "Robot" (Yes, it's a czech word!), Josef Čapek was a very talented painter.
I love that simplicity and the direct effect of his work.
Both are in the Prague National Gallery.

Art in Prague (5) : Dana Gilerman

Hum, I know, you may be a little shocked at first...
That was part of the TRIENNALE. That's actually a video on a big panasonic screen.
The blood just seems to come out slowly from the original painting...
Very impressive. And peculiar.
